Description

The gods of luck are not one, but two—Zarikos, the bringer of fortune, and Narikos, the dealer of misfortune. Born as identical twins, their laughter echoes through gambling halls, battlefields, and markets, where the line between triumph and disaster is razor-thin. No mortal can tell them apart by sight, and many claim even the gods struggle to distinguish them. One brother will lift you to greatness; the other will dash your hopes to ruin—but which is which? Only the roll of fate decides.

They move unseen, switching places at a whim, never bound by law or expectation. A gambler rolling dice, a warrior risking a reckless charge, a merchant making a desperate bargain—each might unknowingly draw the favour of Zarikos or the curse of Narikos. The two brothers play a game older than time itself, shifting fate’s scales back and forth, ensuring that no victory is without risk and no failure is truly final.

Symbols

  • A coin with two identical faces, symbolizing the impossibility of knowing which twin is at work.
  • A pair of dice, one always landing high, the other low.
  • A set of tangled threads, indistinguishable at first glance, representing fate’s uncertainty.

Relationships

  • Waioros (Messenger, Mischief) is their closest companion, as he delights in the trouble they stir. He often delivers their messages in cryptic riddles, never clarifying which twin is speaking.
  • Verunios (Oaths, Order) despises them both, seeing them as a force of chaos that mocks the natural balance of fate. The twins, in turn, love testing his rules just to watch them break.
  • Mitrion (Friendship, Treaties) finds them infuriating, for luck can strengthen or destroy even the strongest alliances. Yet, he knows that trust itself is a gamble.
  • Perkounion (War, Valour) respects them in battle, as luck can turn the tide of war just as much as strength. Some warriors pray to Zarikos before a fight, but all fear that Narikos may answer instead.
